You can read about the new features at the end of this post. But first, a spicier take on why we’re building Hypernatural, made in Hypernatural.

Why Hypernatural is essential for storytellers
We built Hypernatural to get you from idea to shareable video fast. Users can start with anything—an idea, a script, a podcast or an existing video—and Hypernatural will build a custom-styled video with AI-generated clips, narration, GIFs and animated captions in about 2 minutes.
Over the past months, we have spent countless hours with our beta users, many of whom are fiction writers and podcasters. If there’s one thing that unites this group of incredibly creative people, it’s that video has largely been an unrealized aspiration for them. This is especially true at the daily-video scale that’s necessary to be successful on social media.
Hypernatural gives storytellers—who are mostly not video experts—a way to quickly realize their vision with their characters and their style in a medium where people are much more likely to pay attention (video!). Supernatural fiction with religious overtones? Impressionist-style historical discussion of Stalin? High fantasy adventure epic? Each of these were created purely from the imagination of a storyteller, with a fidelity-to-speed-to-cost ratio that makes it easy—and fun—to create sharable video.
Hypernatural makes it easy to realize your vision, whatever that looks like, in video. So what have users been saying? Here they are in their own words (in a video made in Hypernatural, of course).
Wait, is AI actually a net good for creative people?
In order to be successful today, storytellers need to be good at making videos, whether as a means of promotion or a primary creative output. The current tools are failing them because they are fundamentally made for a different type of user: one who has either the time or the expertise or the money to already be making video.
...but it’s worth pointing out that Hypernatural has its share of skeptics in the creative community:
“No! If I need art I will hire an artist! Tech was [not] meant...to steal our creativity!’
—A real comment on one of our Facebook posts
(we decided not to make this one into a Hypernatural video)
People have commented on our posts about how AI tools are taking away the most creative part of the creative process, and taking jobs away from real artists. Instead of funding art, they say, we’re actually destroying human artistic pursuits by using or building AI-powered creative tools.
We humbly—but categorically—disagree.
Hypernatural is engaged in the market expansion of creativity. We believe that creative vision - not being rich or having expert production skills - should be the driver of artistic success. We’re building Hypernatural so creative people can spend more time being creative, and less time—and money—learning to be video editors.
Most people, including the VAST MAJORITY of creative people, cannot afford to commission an artist to create daily videos for them. I think what the ‘hire artists’ argument boils down to—in effect, if not intent—is a sort of creative gatekeeping. Unless you have money to pay a production team, time (another form of currency) to learn the expert editing tools, or an onscreen charisma you can translate into a media deal, you’re not going to be able to achieve consistent visibility on video platforms where you are most likely to find the success. That is a creative elitism that runs counter to having more great art in the the world.
This matters for writers in particular, who tend not to be video experts. But it matters for the video experts too. The customers who can afford to hire production teams are still going to hire production teams and AI is going to change the way the all creative people work. We think those teams can also be more productive and create even more amazing things by exploring tools like Hypernatural for their storyboarding and rough cuts.
A note about training and copyright
Even though great artists might steal, creative expression doesn’t mean taking other people’s work. We only use models that grant Hypernatural clear commercial re-productions rights to the images, video and audio created in our software, which we then pass on to users. We’re dedicated to making sure that anything you make in Hypernatural is yours to use (and make money from, and advertise with) forever. This is an evolving field, and we are committed to being a force for good in it.
Ok fine, but TELL ME ABOUT THE NEW FEATURES
This is Hypernatural 1.0. Along with bringing Hypernatural out of beta, we’re also launching a few huge new features:
AI-generated video, in your video. We’re partnering with Pika to let you add AI-generated clips in any style you can imagine, from photorealistic, to fantasy, to comic book, anime and more.
Unlimited video length. Make videos in any length, whether it’s a 10-second Reel or an hour-long YouTube video.
Style and reuse your characters across scenes. We’ve added automatic controls so that each character will have consistent characteristics (hair color and style, eye color, distinguishing features and more) across clips throughout a video.
More credits on all plans and more videos on the free plan! Hypernatural has always been free to try, but now you can make more videos: create up to 10 videos with full custom styling to try it out.
You can read the details below.
Pika Brings Videos on Command to Hypernatural
As you may have seen over our past few updates, at Hypernatural, we’re obsessed with video styling. We’ve invested in a ton of research, not only in getting our out-of-the-box styles perfect, but in building tools that enable people to create their very own, weird, wild, highly consistent style mashups on the fly. Bollywood High Fantasy, anyone? Renaissance Steampunk? 80s Noir Mystery? All these styles are only an uploaded image or a few inspirational words away.
But until now, styled images were static. Sure, zooming and panning them around the screen goes a long way (Ken Burns, old friend), but we heard from users over and over that they want those images to have more movement.
Enter: Pika
Starting today, Pika video generation is available for all users and all styles, including on our free plan.
What we love about Pika, in addition to their awesome animations of our users’ highly specific images, is that they share our need for speed. Our goal at Hypernatural is always to get you a great, ready-to-share, finished video in under two minutes. With Pika we don’t have to compromise to get incredible generated videos.
Unlimited video length
This is one of our most requested features and it’s now available on all paid plans. Starting today, you can make videos in any length in Hypernatural: from 10 minutes to 10 hours*.
*We pride ourselves on lightning-fast generation times, but 10 hour videos are gonna take a minute to generate! As always, we’ll send you an email when it’s ready.
Style and reuse your characters across scenes
Starting today, the characters in your story will look more consistent across scenes. We’ve added automatic controls so that each character will have consistent characteristics (hair color and style, eye color, distinguishing features and more) throughout a video.
In addition to maintaining consistency across different scenes, you can keep your characters when you make videos in different styles. So if your cyberpunk heroine decides to go to the Renaissance in her time machine: we’ve got you covered.
We have a lot more coming to improve the consistency of your characters, including the ability to edit, regenerate and save character profiles so that you can use them across stories.
More (shorter) generations on the free plan
We’re updating our plans to increase AI credits and be more in line with how people use Hypernatural. New users on the free plan will now be able to create ten 30-second videos. rather than 3-4 videos that are each 3 minutes long.
We’ve also increased the AI credits on each plan:
Free: 75→100 lifetime credits
Creator: 200→500 credits per month
Pro: 1000→ 1500 credits per month
Ultimate: 6000→8000 credits per month.
The price per action hasn’t changed, so you’re just getting more AI!
The end...or the beginning?
We are passionate about creating the best, easiest to use video platform for storytellers. We’ve got a ton of big stuff in the works, especially around character consistency and script writing We have another spicy post coming about our model eval strategy (tl;dr: everyone’s doing multimodal eval wrong), so stay tuned. In the meantime...
